The 2014 Grand Tour of Hope has been successfully completed with 27 riders and a host of volunteers working to raise over $52,000 for the work of Droplets in a Stream Australia.
Riders left Ipswich on day 1 to ride the first 150k including a climb up the steep back-roads of the Toowoomba Range, then on to home base at Crows Nest. Consecutive long & tough days followed in a 30 degree heat, with some stints of relentless hills really punishing the new riders.
But the support crew excelled with the catering and supply … we ate like kings and slept like dogs!
Over 650k was finally covered on day 4 as we rolled in to the applause of families, friends and well wishers at Brookfield.
The riders were all heroic at different points of the tour … those distances test even the fittest body and soul. Their fundraising was spectacular, and their attitude amazing.
Thanks to all our riders, crew, sponsors and donors … you have changed the world for those who lack hope.
