Bridge Christian Ministries is dedicated to serving one of Uganda’s most desperate slums, where poverty and hardship are a daily reality for children. Through New Seasons School, BCM offers a lifeline with free education and a safe place for children to learn, play, and grow.
A Swamp of Struggles
Like many slums in Africa, Nateete is bustling with children. Those unable to attend New Seasons School are often locked out of their shack homes while their parents search for work.
On muddy streets strewn with garbage, they wander without access to food or clean water. When it rains, the roads flood with sewage, as this slum was built on a swamp. Without proper drainage, disease and danger are constant threats to the children of Nateete.
A School of Possibility
Every morning, children pile into New Seasons School and the adjoining church hall in the heart of the slum. The hall doubles as a multi-classroom space, where teachers must deliver different classes at the same time, creating a challenging, noisy environment. Yet, in this modest, crowded setting, the children receive more than an education -they find a place of safety. Here, they’re gaining the knowledge and life skills that will lift them out of poverty and shape a brighter future for generations to come

The classrooms may be cramped and dim, but to the children, New Seasons is a cherished haven of hope. While the students love to sing and dance, they understand that school is more than just fun—it's the key to future employment. Above all, the school represents safety, offering them a refuge from the hardships of their lives.

The Urgent Need For School Expansion

New Seasons School is changing the lives of over 200 students but many more children are desperate to enrol. Without expansion, these children may miss the opportunity to build a brighter future.
Overcrowded and Flooded
The school is bursting at the seams, making it difficult for students to learn. During the rainy season, classrooms flood, turning the space into a muddy mess. The lack of sanitation also puts the children at risk of illness.

Meet Haggai and Agnes
Founders of Bridge Christian Ministries
Haggai and Agnes Mwesige founded Bridge Christian Ministries in 2000, driven by a deep sense of purpose. Haggai, the eldest of nine children, was inspired by his father, a village pastor who served his community despite the crushing weight of poverty. Having experienced the hardships of such humble beginnings, Haggai and Agnes have devoted their lives to breaking the cycle of poverty that has plagued African families for generations, determined to bring hope and transformation to those who need it most.
