Rescued, safe and facing a complex journey ahead.

What happens next matters deeply.

Twenty-two children have recently been rescued from a suspected trafficking situation and are now in the care of our long-standing partners, Kyampisi Childcare Ministries (KCM) in Uganda. They are no longer in immediate danger. But what happens next will shape the rest of their lives.

Why after-care matters so much

Children who have lived through fear, loss and deception do not simply “bounce back” once they are safe.

They need time.
They need stability.
They need skilled, trauma-informed care.

And in this situation, the children also need specialist support to help find their families and plan a safe return to their home country.

How your gift helps

Your support helps KCM continue to care for these children during this critical period – and supports their healing journey through:

  • daily care, food, bedding, clothing and safe accommodation

  • medical attention

  • emotional and psychosocial support

  • schooling while longer-term plans are being developed

But alongside this urgent care, a much more complex process is underway - including:

  • supporting children through trauma-informed counselling

  • helping them feel safe again in their bodies and in relationships

  • specialist social work and child-protection services

  • working with authorities as investigations continue

  • supporting legal and child-protection processes

  • professional translation support so children can communicate and participate in their care

  • DNA testing to support safe family assessment and protection planning

  • careful family tracing and working with authorities to help children return safely to their home country or family, when it is in each child’s best interest

KCM need USD 48,000 to continue caring for these children and to support family tracing, justice and recovery.

We know this is a significant amount.

But this is not short-term relief – it includes specialist support like translation, family tracing, DNA testing and coordination with officials as part of a careful and responsible approach to each child’s long-term safety and future.

If you’re able, please consider making a gift today to help care for these children during this critical time.

If you’re not in a position to give right now, sharing this page with a friend, family member or your workplace can make a real difference too. Thank you for standing with KCM – and with children who are beginning again.

A note from KCM

By KCM Founder, Peter Michael Sewakiryanga

Dear friends, when these twenty-two children arrived, they came frightened and unsure – but they were met with open arms and a safe place to rest. Our team said yes immediately, because when children need protection and care, there is no time to wait.

Your support makes it possible for us to care for them with dignity. Thank you for standing with us as these children begin to heal.
