The Milele Home

Our Partner in Kisumu, Kenya

Nestled amid lush greenery on Lake Victoria's scenic shores, the Milele Home offers a sanctuary for Kisumu’s most vulnerable mothers and babies. The home is more than just a place to live - it's a place where mothers and children can find hope, healing, and a new beginning.

Kenya’s Heartbreaking Child Welfare Crisis

Teen mothers, victims of sexual violence, and those living in poverty with HIV/AIDS are struggling to care for their newborns. With limited options available, many of these young mothers resort to abandoning their babies, hoping to give them a better chance at survival. The few government welfare agencies are overwhelmed and unable to assist, leaving these mothers in a state of distress and despair.

A haven of hope for Kenya’s
young mums and babies

Frank and Lindah, the founders of Milele, recognised the need for a safe, nurturing space for vulnerable mothers. They envisioned a place where these women could build life skills, continue their education, and bond with their babies. The Milele Home is that special haven, empowering mothers to heal, grow, and become confident, independent women who can support themselves and their children.

A Place to Call Home

At Milele, mothers and children live in a safe, supportive space filled with warmth and joy. With colourful surroundings, a garden, and playful activities, the residence promotes healing through love and community. Each family receives personalised care to help them thrive.

Daycare Services

To help young mothers pursue education and work opportunities, Milele offers a daycare with interactive play and learning activities for their children. Mothers are welcome to engage with the daycare, building a community of mutual support.

Meet Frank and Lindah

Founders of the Milele Home

When you walk through the welcoming grounds of Milele, you’re bound to find Lindah with a baby in her arms and Frank with a plant in his hands! This loving husband and wife team have a heart for those who can’t help themselves.

Since moving to Kisumu in 2009, Frank and Linda have been on an incredible journey with us. With the generous support of DIAS donors, we’ve helped them build Milele from the ground up. The Milele Home has become their dream, where they hope for children to be raised by the same ‘mamma’ so they can experience what it truly means to have a family.

Support The Milele Home

Your donation today provides the vital resources the Milele Home needs to continue its life-changing work. The most impactful way to give is through a monthly gift, which allows us to offer consistent support and meet ongoing needs. Every contribution - big or small- makes a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families.

Thank you for helping create a brighter future for those who need it most!

“It's incredibly rewarding to see the transformation in these young lives. Malnourished infants have grown into healthy, happy toddlers, and teenage mothers have completed their education. We are making a tangible impact here in Kisumu, and hope that you will feel inspired to join us on this journey.”
